The brochure says “visit glamorous Hvar!” The clock says about an hour. Both are telling the truth; only one is planning your afternoon.

Option A - the fortress walk. The climb through Hvar’s old-town lanes to the Spanish Fortress viewpoint runs roughly 20 minutes up at tour pace, ten at the wall for the Pakleni panorama - the postcard shot - and 15 back down: ~45 minutes round trip, leaving change for a gelato, not a meal. It is the best single thing an hour in Hvar buys.

Option B - the waterfront table. A real lunch on the Riva consumes the hour whole - service in peak season isn’t built for speedboat schedules. Order fast, enjoy it, skip the climb, and know you chose correctly anyway.

The failed option - both. The couples half-jogging down from the fortress at minute 58, waving at a skipper: a fixed feature of every Hvar summer afternoon. Don’t be the manifest’s famous people.
